Asamoah Gyan, a famous football player from Ghana, has said that he is giving up the sport.


In another tweet, Gyan wrote, "It's time to hang up the shirt and boots. I'm leaving football behind."


The forward has scored 51 goals in 109 games for Ghana, which makes him the country's all-time top scorer.


The 37-year-old player started playing club football in 2003 for Ghana's first team, Liberty Professionals. He then played in Europe for Udinese in Italy, Rennes in France, and Sunderland in the Premier League of England.


He used to play for the Al Ain team in the United Arab Emirates. He helped the team win the Pro-League title and was the league's top scorer, with 28 goals in 32 games.


Gyan has played for Ghana's main team, the Black Stars, at the 2006, 2010, and 2014 FIFA World Cups.


He has scored the most goals in the African World Cup, with six.


He played in seven games for his country at the African Cup of Nations, where the Black Stars came in third in 2008, second in 2010, and second again in 2015.
